Joseph Wallace
My usual workspace is an office in my house. The wall in front of my computer is covered with photographs of places I’ve visited and things I’ve seen, so I can dream of being somewhere other than in my office, struggling with my latest book.

My favorite (seasonal) workspace, our screened-in porch, is one of those places I dream about. There’s something about the quiet, the breeze coming through, and—especially—the color of the light, that make this space my ideal writing spot.

Comet is a frequent companion on the porch, always hopeful that I’ll give up that boring gig as a writer and devote myself to throwing tennis balls.

Joe Wallace is the author of nonfiction books on baseball and natural history; noir short stories; and Diamond Ruby, a novel. He can be found writing in apartments, cafes, libraries, motel rooms, and screened-in porches all over the East Coast.
