My wall of author autographs, which provides me with writerly
inspiration. Three things to point out here:

1. Edgar Allan Poe’s picture is not autographed.

2. Chuck Palahniuk signed his photo, “Can you tell I’m stoned?” I’m
still not sure if he meant he was stoned while signing it or in the
picture.

3. When I met Michael Chabon, he asked me where I got an 8x10 of his
face. “I printed it out myself, of course,” I said. “I’m going to cut
the eyes out and use it as a Michael Chabon mask for Halloween.” That
ended our conversation rather quickly.
